GRIP: A TCP/IP for energy

GRIP is a control-plane protocol for grid-connected assets — the physical grid is the data plane. It carries identity, operating envelopes, price and congestion signals, telemetry, and settlement. A forward market (the Capacity Exchange) feeds cleared firm positions back down as a floor under your envelope.

Five primitives, one protocol

P1 — Identity & registration

Every asset gets an Ed25519 keypair and a signed certificate binding it to a grid location. identity.cert, identity.revoke
SPEC §3.1

P2 — Envelope

Time-bounded operating-envelope leases — request, hold, renew. envelope.request, envelope.grant
SPEC §3.2

P3 — Congestion signal

Per-node price and congestion ticks, plus discrete curtailment flags. signal.tick, signal.flag
SPEC §3.3

P4 — Firmness

A QoS class on every cert, envelope, product, and settlement record — best-effort to firm. firmness
SPEC §3.4

P5 — Telemetry & settlement

Signed telemetry reports, and a two-leg settlement system computed over them. telemetry.report, settlement.*
SPEC §3.5

Who can access what

PUBLIC This site, the spec, the API reference, sandbox aggregate data, and the transparency-log verifier need no key. DEV CONSOLE Registering an asset, requesting envelopes, and subscribing to per-node signals needs a self-serve API key — coming soon. Exchange order entry and campus-ops surfaces are SP DASHBOARD tier (corporate SSO) and are out of scope for this site. Every dashboard capability exists as a documented API any zone participant at the same tier could call — no privileged backdoors. See SPEC.md §7.
